At the Senior Prize Giving on Wednesday 10 November the OBHS Foundation announced the winner of the Staff Professional Development Scholarship.
The scholarship offers an opportunity for one staff member a year to undertake professional development on ‘Teaching and Learning Methods’ with a focus to benefit our students. 
This scholarship is no light weight as it is worth $10,000.00 to the recipient.
Last years recipient was Mr David Bond – where he used the scholarship this year to attend the ICOTS8 conference in Slovenia – an incredible opportunity and experience where he enjoyed work shopping and networking with other teachers, lecturers and researchers who are passionate about the teaching of Statistics.
This year, the scholarship was awarded to Andrew Swan a teacher who has taught at Otago Boys’ High School since 1988 and was a student from 1973 – 1977 where he was Head Boy.
Rector Clive Rennie spoke of why Andrew received this award:
Mr Swan was clearly surprised and elated at receiving the award and will now start looking at where he can use the scholarship funds to his and the schools best advantage.
