Last week, the Foundation was privileged to play a part in the visit to Dunedin by the RNZAF Red Checkers display team.
The RNZAF Red Checkers swoop low over Otago Boys and Littlebourne last week, delighting all who looked skyward |
Led by Old Boy Stephen Hunt (1978-82), the Red Checkers buzzed the players involved in the annual Old Boys versus School golf, tennis and cricket matches - swooping low over the Balmacewen sporting complex and then over the school, with the runs perfectly timed to coincide with play and also the juniors leaving after their first full day of the new year.
A spectacular 11-minute display was then staged over the Harbour Basin, much to the delight of the thousands scattered around the best vantage points on the wharves, foreshore and hill suburbs.
Squadron Leader Hunt will visit the school later in the year to talk about his career and to encourage others to follow him. Details of that visit will be posted on the website once finalised.
The school, the Old Boys' Society and the Foundation warmly acknowledge the part played in last week's displays by Squadron Leader Hunt and we look forwrad to seeing him, on the ground, in due course.
