The annual sporting Tournament Week started yesterday with a variety of teams from Otago Boys' competing around the country.
Results from Day 1 (Monday):
Hockey, Rankin Cup (Christchurch) -
vs Westlake College, lost 2-4
vs Tauranga Boys', lost 0-2
Football, Jim Wishart Tournament (Dunedin) -
vs Howick College, drew 2-all
vs Marlborough Boys', won 1-0
Rugby, National Under 15 tournament (Tauranga) -
vs Rotorua Boys', won 11-10
vs Wellington College, lost 12-52
Results from Day 2 (Tuesday):
Hockey, Rankin Cup -
vs St Andrews, drew 1-all
Football, Jim Wishart Tournament -
vs St Pauls, won 2-1
Rugby, National Under 15 tournament -
vs Christchurch Boys', lost 7-10
Golf, NZ Collegiate tournament (Royal Wellington) -
First round score of 230 (lying in 4th spot, 16 shots from the leaders - Wellington College)
Results from Day 3 (Wednesday):
Hockey, Rankin Cup -
vs Tawa, lost 2-3
Rugby, National Under 15 tournament -
vs St Patricks (Town), won 24-12
Golf, NZ Collegiate tournament -
Second round score of 226 to finish second overall behind the tournament winner, Wellington College. Otago Boys' will now contest the trans-Tasman intercollegiate series in April next year. Individual counting scores for Otago Boys' for the tournament were - Jimmy Hunter (151), Nick Borren (152) and Daniel Elder (153)
Results from Day 4 (Thursday):
Hockey, Rankin Cup -
vs New Plymouth, won 6-0
Football, Jim Wishart Tournament -
vs Hutt International, lost 1-6 (after qualifying for the quarter-final through a penalty shootout)
vs St Peters, won 2-1 and will now play Nayland College for 5th/6th place
Rugby, National Under 15 tournament -
vs Auckland Grammar, lost 20-22
Deep South Basketball Premiership, qualifying tournament for nationals (Dunedin) -
vs Waitaki Boys', lost 68-72
vs Fiordland College, won 104-37
Results from Day 5 (Friday):
Rugby, National Under 15 tournament -
vs Rotorua Boys, drew 17-all (finished in a tie for 11th place)
Football, Jim Wishart Tournament -
vs Nayland College, lost 0-2 (finished in 6th place)
Deep South Basketball Premiership, qualifying tournament for nationals -
vs Wakatipu College, won 88-45
Results from Day 6 (Saturday):
Deep South Basketball Premiership, qualifying tournament for nationals -
vs Waitaki Boys', lost 43-62 (this was the tournament final with a berth in the top two giving Otago Boys' a place in the national tournament later in the year. Named in the tournament team were Morgan Nathan, Paratene McLeod and Michael Dawson)
